Summer Plans

I think we finally have our summer plans all scheduled and ready to go.  We wanted Malcolm to do at least one swimming session this summer, but also wanted him to continue with gymnastics.  He has been doing very well with his gymnastics lately, and is now old enough to move up to the big kid class.  No more class with mommy!  He has mastered a forward roll, walking sideways on the balance beam, and is doing great following the teacher's verbal directions.  He is very ready for the next level, but the number of class options are greatly reduced during the summer.  There is only one morning gymnastics class for him, and it conflicted with almost every swim class time they have for his age.  The only swim class it did not conflict with, of course was full, so after gymnastics, we have 15 minutes to drive to the outdoor pool.  Swimming is Monday through Thursday, so it will only be a problem on Wednesdays for the first two weeks of gymnastics.

We bought our pass to the local zoo a couple of weeks ago and are planning lots of trips there, to the parks and playgrounds, and to Fountain Park (splash pad style fountain the kids can run through).  We had our first picnic last week, and Malcolm really liked that, so I see lots of outside time in our future.  I think we are all ready to be outside, play, and splash in the water.  The farmer's market is starting up again, and Malcolm really enjoyed that last year; especially the free samples.

We also have 2 trips planned.  The first one is over the July 4th weekend.  We will be in Indianapolis for a couple of days, then will go on down to Greensburg for a couple more days.  We are hoping on the way down, to stop in Lafayette.  Malcolm wants to see some of the campus locations that are in his books and hopefully there will be time for a quick stop by the bookstore.  The kids may have some new Purdue duds to wear while we are visiting family.

Our second trip will be to Florida.  Malcolm is looking forward to swimming in the pool and going to the beach and the zoo.  Both kids are looking forward to being spoiled rotten by their grandparents.

We have already had a little summer fun.  We made ginger, honey, peach popsicles,

filled the play table full of water,

and fed the ducks.
