Today we went to my favorite local park, Fountain Park. It is a beautiful park in Elgin, right on the river with wonderful landscaping. On one side, there is a large patio fountain that water comes up out of that the kids can play in and run through. Each year, Malcolm gets a little braver with the water. Today, he did pretty well, but he kept coming over to me saying that he needed to dry off and was a little upset when he noticed his swim trunks were wet. I don't think he liked how his wet trunks were trying to stick to him. Here he is playing in some of the little fountains and you can see him trying to hold his trucks off of his body. Standing on the water fountains was something new.
The other play section is right next to the fountain area and is a big musical playground. There are all types of over-sized music makers and a giant rope climbing structure in the middle. He has always been a little too young for this side, but today he was able to do a lot by himself. This is the first time he has been heavy enough to make these tiles chime.
