Happy Easter

The kids had a great Easter, but it was a very big morning for them. Malcolm came bouncing into our bedroom bright and early wanting to go downstairs to see if the Easter Bunny had left anything.  Kevin went to check on Dorothy, but she was still sleeping.  She stirred as he was leaving her room though, so we went ahead and got her up, but she was pretty crabby about it.

The baskets, before the kids got to them.

Examining his chocolate bunny.

Both kids got a small box of pink Peep bunnies.

Kevin got a Green Lantern action figure that was a prize in a kid's meal, but the kids stole it from him pretty quickly.

After baskets, we all had breakfast and got dressed. The kids also got to choose one candy to eat, and they both chose a Peep. After getting nice and sugared up, we went outside to hunt for eggs. They were each allowed to find 13 eggs. I thought we would have to slow Malcolm down since he is a lot faster than his sister, but he was being very helpful to her and not picking up many for himself. I finally had to tell him to start getting some for himself too because Dorothy had almost all of hers. I have a lot more photos of her, because she was holding still a little bit. He was running from one egg to the next so fast, that I couldn't catch him with the camera.

(pointing with his foot) "Look Dorothy!  There's an egg!"

She didn't have any trouble carrying her basket, unlike last year where it kept tripping her up.

Silly bunny makes it hard to get to some of the eggs.

Getting quite the collection.

The only way to get  a picture of Malcolm was to tell him to show me his egg.

On the hunt for more eggs.

This time, I saw where he was headed and got into position before he got to the egg.

Such a sweet Easter picture.

Checking out their loot.

After eating a few jelly beans, we went back outside to crack open the dinosaur eggs. You can see more about the dinosaur eggs here.

A mostly opened dinosaur egg.

Once all the dinosaur eggs had been opened, the kids played outside for a little while.

Dorothy, in the tire swing.

Malcolm, being goofy.

Dorothy, giving Daddy a push on the swing.  She had a hard time moving him.

It was hard work, but Malcolm was able to get Kevin moving a bit.

Fiyero Goes to School

Today I took our rabbit, Fiyero, to Malcolm's school so that the kids could see and pet him, while I talked a little bit about rabbits.  Fiyero is a pretty mellow rabbit, who doesn't worry about much of anything, so he is great with kids.  I went over the rules with the kids about how to pet him from head to tail, and to only touch his back, and use inside voices so as not to scare him, but aside from the vacuum, I don't think much really scares Fiyero.

I brought Dorothy with me, and when we got there, the kids were still finishing up some work.  That was all the invitation Dorothy needed to join in.

First, she did a little work with the timers.

Then she moved on to her current favorite thing; drawing.  She took a poor kindergartener's chair, but he didn't seem to mind.

Fiyero played it safe to start with, just hanging out in the middle, out of reach of little hands.  Despite the expressions in this photo, I think the kids really liked having him come in today.

He warmed up after a while, and made the rounds.

He seemed to be able to pick out Malcolm and went over to him a few times.

We are very lucky to have such a good natured rabbit.

It appears that Fiyero and Charlie are having a heart to heart.

Once we were back home again, I gave Fiyero a big bunch of parsley as a reward for being so good.  He ate it right away, so I think he forgives me.
