In October, Dorothy went to a birthday party at a local chocolate shop and has insisted that she
had to have her next party there too. I looked into it, and the price was completely reasonable, and I had almost no planning or prep work, so we said yes.
All day, she kept asking how long until her party. We got there a few minutes early to set up a bit and took a photo before the chaos began.
Each kid got 2 Oreo cookies and three pretzels to dip in their bowl of chocolate. They each had a tray with a variety of sprinkles, shredded coconut, mini marshmallows, red hots, and more to decorate with. They each also got to pick a shape to make a chocolate lollipop. It was hard to wait and listen to the directions, before diving into the chocolate.
Once they started, it got pretty quiet, as they all concentrated on dipping and decorating.
Lots of focus to get things "just right."
There were some left over marshmallows and chocolate, so they started dipping the marshmallows, then stacking them up (and eating them).
Next up, was making "chocolate pizza" with what was left of their sprinkles and marshmallows.
It was fun to see how different each pizza was. Some made specific designs, others went for an even distribution of sprinkles, and one or two just tried to see how much they could fit on it.
The squeeze bottle of white chocolate was a huge hit with all the kids.
After washing everyone up, we had some snacks, then cupcakes. I think most over ate during the decorating, because hardly anyone ate any snacks, and two declined cupcakes all together.
Dorothy soldiered on and ate her chocolate cupcake, with chocolate marshmallow frosting, and mini chocolate chip candy sprinkles (I'm sensing a theme here).
The littlest one at the party was the first one done with her cupcake.
She just licked all the sprinkles off, ate the frosting, then just had a bite of the cake.
Finally, it was time to open the presents. It was so nice having chairs for everyone to sit in to keep it from getting too crazy.
Each friend handed Dorothy the present they brought, and there was some silliness.
An older friend was enlisted to help read the cards. She liked having an important job, and it went much faster with her help.
I think all the kids had a good time. They all ate their weight in chocolate, then were sent home with a box of all the goodies they had made at the party; chocolate pizza, a chocolate lollipop, two chocolate covered Oreos, and three chocolate covered pretzles. That's a pretty good haul.
My only regret is forgetting to take a group photo, but if that's the worst thing that happened, I'd say it was a huge success.
